At the inauguration meeting of the United South African Jewish War Appeal, sponsored by the South African Jewish Board of Deputies and the Zionist Federation, Justice Greenberg, who presided, said the present intention was to divide the proceeds of the appeal equally between the two bodies responsible for it, for allocation by them to the various objects of the cause.
As far as the Board of Deputies was concerned, he said, one of their objects was to help the dependants of Jewish volunteers, and another was to assist those countless numbers all over the world who, through war conditions, had become refugees. The Zionist Federation’s share would be devoted to war work in Palestine.
