The United Jewish Appeal of Essex County launched its 1962 campaign with a record-breaking total of $1, 270, 000, Alan Sagner, general chairman of the campaign, announced today. The total was pledged at the traditional special gifts dinner last night which opened the 1962 campaign.
The total represents a very substantial increase over the special gifts pledged at the opening of the 1961 campaign. During the 1961 campaign the amount of $2,140,000 was raised. Saul Robbins is chairman of special gifts and Mrs. Maurice A. Wachstein Jr., chairman of the women’s division.
