The United Jewish Appeal of Toronto, which provides for local, national and overseas welfare needs, today set as its 1965 goal, a minimum of $3,230,000, representing an increase of $600,000 over the amount raised last year.
Stephen E. Berger, chairman of the United Jewish Appeal administrative committee, which recommended the target figure, said that the goal was a “reflection of ever-increasing needs, especially in our own growing community.”
Of the total, $1,306,000 will be required for over seas needs of the United Israel Appeal and $300,000 for the Joint Distribution Committee. National agencies will require $165,000 and the remainder for local institutions.
