The United Jewish Appeal today announced that $100,000,000 has been raised since 1939 by the UJA which is the fund-raising instrument for the Joint Distribution Committee, the United Palestine Appeal and the National Refugee Service.
More than 1,400 Jewish communities throughout the country are now engaged in an effort to achieve this year’s $32,000,000 quota, the announcement said. “The 1944 rescue and reconstruction drive will reach the largest total ever raised since the establishment of the United Jewish Appeal for relief and rehabilitation overseas, for reconstruction and settlement in the Jewish National Home and for adjustment of newcomers in the United States,” it added.
