United Nations truce headquarters here tonight announced that as a result of a meeting today between Israeli commander Col. Moshe Dayan and the Arab Legion Lt. Col. Abdullah El Tel, a complete cease-fire is expected soon in the Jerusalem area.
“Excellent progress was made,” the U.N. communique said, adding: “It is expected that a full accord for a complete, sincere cease-fire agreement will be reached in the near future for the Jerusalem area.” Jewish military sources had nothing more to add to the U.N. statement.
