The United Nations will issue a series of six postage stamps commemorating the 80th birthday of Marc Chagall, the Jewish artist. Each of the stamps will reproduce one section of the stained-glass window at the United Nations Headquarters executed by Chagall in memory of Dag Hammarskjold, the late Secretary-General. The U.N. Postal Administration will put the stamps on sale Nov. 17.
In Buenos Aires, an exhibition of works by Chagall, many of them lent by the French Embassy, featured observance of the artist’s birthday by the Buenos Aires Jewish community.
