United Sentiment on Palestine to Be Voiced at Z.o. Convention

The thirty-third annual convention of the Zionist Organization of America, to begin in Cleveland on June 29 will be a demonstration of united American Jewish interest in Palestine, where American Jewry will be able to “give expression to its views with regard to present political conditions that prevail in Palestine”, according to a letter sent by Louis Lipsky, President of the Zionist Organization, to the leading Jewish national organizations in the United States, inviting them to send delegates to the Cleveland meeting.

In addition to the delegates from the various Zionist districts, it is expected that representatives from the other Jewish national bodies will attend the Cleveland convention, since it will be the first occasion at which a united American Jewry will be able to give an impressive expression of its attitude to the recent conduct of the British Government with regard to Palestine.

Mr. Lipsky has invited each of the following organizations, who have hitherto shown interest in the development of Palestine, to send three representatives to the annual Zionist gathering: American Jewish Congress, Independent Order Brith Abraham, Independent Order Bnai Brith, Independent Order Brith Sholom, Independent Order Free Sons of Israel, Progressive Order of the West, Federation of Lithuanian Jews, Federation of Orthodox Rabbis of America, Federation of Polish Jews, Federation of Ukrainian Jews, Federation of Galician Jews, Junior Hadassah, United Rumanian Jews of America, Independent Western Star Order, Order Knights of Joseph, United Synagogue of America, Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, Rabbinical Assembly, Mizrachi Organization, Poale Zion, Zeire Zion, Avukah, Young Judaea, Jewish National Fund, and Histadruth Ivrith.

In his letter, Mr. Lipsky said in part:

“It is intended to make a demonstration of Jewish interest in the Zionist cause at this convention, and to give expression to the views of American Jews with regard to the present political conditions that prevail in Palestine, and the policies of the Mandatory Government. The presence of your delegation at our convention will give added strength to the expression of opinion which will be adopted there”.
