The fourteenth annual convention of the United Synagogue of America opened yesterday at the Emerson Hotel here in the presence of 800 delegates and guests. Mayor Jackson greeted the delegates.
Dr. Elias Solomon, New York, president of the United Synagogue of America, opened the convention.
Dr. Solomon said Jews everywhere are beginning to look to America for leadership and help in religious and cultural spheres.
In connection with the synagogue convocation, the Women’s League, an affiliated body, is holding its ninth annual convention. Mrs. Charles I. Hoffman, president, presided.
