Doctor Israel Treiman, 30 year old lawyer, who is connected with a prominent legal firm here, has been appointed Professor of Law at the Washington University, according to an announcement made today to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency by Dean Rutledge. Dr. Treiman has the distinction of being the youngest member of the faculty and the only Jewish Professor of Law in the University.

He was born in Odessa and came to this country at the age of six. He was graduated with the highest honors from the University from which he has now received his appointment, and was at one time awarded a Rhodes Scholarship. In 1927 he obtained his Ph. D. from Oxford University in Jurisprudence.

Dr. Treiman is a member of the Board of Jewish education, and is active in local Jewish community affairs. He will, however, resign his legal practice when he assumes his professorial duties.
