Dr. Simon Greenberg, president of the University of Judaism here, the West Coast branch of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, proposed today the establishment of a development program to include a $2,500,000 development fund.
Dr. Greenberg, who is also vice chancellor of the Seminary for the training of Conservative rabbis in New York, urged community support of the university’s development program in an address to the university’s board of overseers. In its 12th year, the university has more than 1,000 students.
Lewis E. Pennish, film producer, was elected chairman of the executive committee, Milton Sperling, a film producer, was re-elected chairman of the board of overseers. Playwright-producer Dore Schary was re-elected honorary chairman and Justin F. Turner was re-elected chairman of the board of governors.
