The University of Pennsylvania will not send a delegate to the Goettingen University bicentenary celebration in Germany, according to an announcement by President Thomas S. Gates. Previously, Dr. Gates said, Dr. Daniel L. Shumway, Professor of German and a graduate of Goettingen, who had been planning to visit Germany, was asked to act as delegate, but Dr. Shumway changed his plans and will not visit Europe.
