University Opening for Chilean Jews

The opening here of a popular university under the auspices of the Zionist-Socialist Party is being looked upon as an event of great cultural significance in the life of Chilean Jewry.

The university was to open on the anniversary of the death of Ber Borochov, founder of Poale-Zionism, with a lecture on Borochov by Menachem Eloni.

The curriculum of the university includes the following subjects: Hebrew for adults; Jewish history; history of Zionism and Zionist parties; doctrine of Zionist-Socialism; Palestinian sciences: history, geography, social, political and economic problems; the economic and social foundations of Zionism; history of world Socialism and Jewish Socialist movements.

The Zionist-Socialist party is also planning to open centers for children and youths, and is organizing a chalutz group. A convention of the Zionist-Socialist Party of Chile will be held April, 1934.
