A sub-committee of the Uno Assembly’s General Committee will tonight consider a protest by the Jewish Agency against the boycott of Jewish goods from Palestine proclaimed by the Arab League, it was announced at a press conference today by a Uno spokesman.
The protest, which will be taken up together with other memorandums submitted to the Uno by private organizations, declares that economic warfare against a section of the population of a neighboring country is inconsistent with the purpose and spirit of the Uno, and contrary to the provisions of its charter.
The Agency also pointed out that the Arab states, which were the last to declare war on the Axis, have been the first to offend the charter by action causing racial incitement and economic discrimination characteristic of the Nazi-Fascist regimes. It added that this action has been taken against Jews who, in Palestine and elsewhere, cooperated actively in the military and economic war effort of the Allies.
The Agency memorandum appeals to the Assembly to inform the Arab states that a racial boycott is inconsistent with their obligations as Uno members, and to urge them to withdraw it.
