Unsatisfactory relations between the United States and the Institute of Agriculture in Rome made impossible the official representation of this country at the twenty-fifth anniversary celebration of the Institute which was founded by an American Jew, David Lubin. The United States, a former member of the Institute, resigned from the Institute because it was dissatisfied with the method of administration which it is alleged has been based on political and diplomatic rather than scientific considerations, according to sources well informed as to the attitude of the department of agriculture.
