Samuel Untermyer, noted Jewish attorney and head of the American Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi League, received an imposing reception when he arrived here on the S.S. Santa Clara. Mr. Untermyer, accompanied by a group of friends, is on his way to New York after a vacation in California.
Practically the whole Jewish colony of Havana turned out to welcome him, including three hundred Jewish school children, representatives of foreign newspapers, and important government officials.
All the newspapers in Havana today carried photographs of Untermyer together with lengthy articles on his fight against Hitlerism.
Later in the day Untermyer addressed a meeting of more than 1,000 Jews and non-Jews in the Jewish Center. He stressed the importance of the boycott against German-made goods in the fight against anti-Semitism in Germany.
The American boycott leader appealed to the Cuban Jews to join the world boycott movement against the Nazi regime, which he declared was certain to be victorious.
