Untermyer Hits Luther Again As ‘propagandist’

Replying to Ambassador Luther’s interview in which he stated, on his return from Germany Thursday, that the boycott against the Germans was “insane,” Samuel Untermyer, president of the Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi League to Champion Human Rights, unleashed an attack on the envoy Friday and called his statements to ship-news reporters “utterly silly.”

Mr. Untermyer recalled his speech a few months ago in which he termed Dr. Luther a “propagandist masquerading as an Ambassador.” At that time Dr. Luther complained of the speech to Secretary of State Hull, who told the press that he regretted Mr. Untermyer’s remarks.
