Unveiling of the memorial tablet in the Jewish Guild Memorial Building to the Jewish soldiers who fell in the World War took place here recently with the Governor-General of South Africa, the Earl of Athlone and Princess Alice present. Others who participated in the services included Sir Ernest Oppenheimer, and Chief Rabbi J. L. Landau, who reminded the gathering that most of the dead who were being honored were not British born and had volunteered their services since there was no conscription in South Africa.
