Friday was moving day for the Washington Heights Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association which left its old quarters at St. Nicholas avenue and 159th street for a new and more spacious building at the George Washington Bridge Plaza, Ft. Washington avenue and 178th street.
The ‘Y’ obtained a long lease from the Port of New York Authority at a rental below that of the old site. Some of the features of the new building are an auditorium which will seat about 500 people, and showers and lockers for both men and women.
Friday evening and Saturday services have been conducted at the new building for several weeks.
