The Daily Telegraph expressed hope today that Captain Charles Wingate of the Royal Artillery, who was awarded the S.D.C. for his work in clearing up the Palestine troubles of 1938, would be sent back to Palestine to aid in defense efforts. The Telegraph said Captain Wingate was “a firm believer in the Jews’ powers as fighters.”
