Establishment of Jewish Agency embassies in various countries as a measure to reinforce the agency’s prestige was urged by Rabbi Samuel Wohl of Cincinnati, labor delegate, during the debate on the floor. He also defended the Palestine-German transfer agreement.
Earlier, the Mizrachi (orthodox Zionist) delegation had reached an agreement with the Laborites withdrawing its demands for sanctions to enforce religious observance in Palestine in return for the congress’s promise that Sabbath violations in colonies supported by national funds would be treated as violations of Zionist discipline.
With the agreement, which was expected to be read from the rostrum and ratified by the Congress as soon as an effective date for the pact would be decided upon, the sessions, which had been temporarily halted by the deadlock, resumed.
