Authorized Zionist leaders should demand the commutation of the Palestine death sentences and thus create a turning point in Arab-Jewish relations which will inevitably have an important reaction throughout the world, declared Dr. Robert Weltsch, writing in the “Juedische Rundschau,” organ of the German Zionist Federation of which he is the editor.

He points out that such action would be an indication that the Jews “do not desire revenge but want an understanding that will begin anew the enlightenment in Palestine and neighboring countries.” He states that the government itself might commute the death sentences before the Zionists act and thus would deprive them of this real opportunity.
