Renewed, vigorous opposition to the use in public schools of Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice” was voiced here today by Charles H. Roemer, addressing a B’nai B’rith meeting attended by 700 persons.

He charged the city administration with “procrastination on this Jewish subject,” and expressed disappointment that the play is still being studied in the public schools. “If necessary, political steps will be taken in this matter,” he said.

Rabbi Samuel Price, spiritual leader of Temple Beth El of Springfield, Mass., sailed yesterday for a visit to the Central European countries and to Palestine.
