Uri Finkel, one of the few Jewish writers in the Soviet Union who remained alive after the “purge” of Jewish cultural figures there, died in Minsk last month, it was reported here today from Warsaw. He was 61 years old. Until World War II he was a member of the Jewish section of the Academy of Science in Byelorussia. He is the author of numerous monographs on Yiddish writers.
