The bravery of the Jewish fighting forces in Palestine and the heroic sacrifices of the Jews in Europe, including Soviet Russia, are emphasized in a Rosh Hashanah message issued here today by the Vaad Leumi, the Jewish National Council of Palestine, to the Jews of the world. The message reads:
“Hitler’s criminal hand has reached the remnants of European -even Russian-Jewry, spreading blood, fire and destruction. From the depth of this hell comes the light of our brethren’s heroic stand, sacrificing itself for Kidush Hashem and nation. From this hell comes also a call from our Russian brethren, stretching out their hand anew, willing to unite with the rest of world Jewry.
“From Zion and Jerusalem comes a call to world Jewry from 10,000 Palestine Jewish pioneers who are joined in the forefront for the defense of their homeland-Eretz Israel. The Yishub continues to enlist its best sons in the fight against evil and for final victory. The Yishub stands firmly on guard and continues its upbuilding. Let this stand serve as encouragement to you.”
