A cablegram from Jerusalem announcing that the Palestine Jewish National Council (Vaad Leumi) by unanimous vote has accepted membership on the executive committee for the World Jewish Congress was made public by the American Jewish Congress yesterday.
Isaac Ben Zvi, a leader of the Palestine organization, which is official spokesman for the Holy Land’s Jewish community, will represent the Vaad Leumi on the executive committee.
Other bodies which have voted affiliation with the world congress group are the Poale Zion-Zeire Zion and the World Union of Zionist Revisionists.
Cablegrams also were received from Chief Rabbi Alkalay, president of the Union of Jewish Communities of Yugoslavia; Chief Rabbi Sacerdoti, head of the Jewish community of Italy; and leaders of the Algerian Jewish community. All asked early convocation of the World Jewish Congress.
