Secretary of State Cyrus Vance met with President Carter this afternoon to brief him on his 10-day Mideast trip and his visit in London last Thursday, after concluding his Mideast trip, where he discussed the situation in southern Africa with British officials. On his return to Washington last night, Vance would not characterize his Mideast trip as either a success or a failure but noted that it was a useful mission.
