Dr. Vittorio Pertusio, Mayor of Genoa, apologized today to the president of the Genoa Jewish Community after hoodlums, for the second time in two years, had desecrated a memorial to the Jewish victims of Nazism here. The memorial was covered in red paint and Nazi symbols daubed over it. The mayor ordered the municipal authorities to clean up and restore the memorial. Genoa police are pressing an intensive search for the vandals.
