Vandals Destroy 16 Tombstones in Attack on Jewish Cemetery in Germany; Inquiry Begun

German police were investigating today an attack on the Jewish cemetery of Baumach, located near the city of Kassal, in which vandals destroyed 16 of 21 tombstones. Municipal authorities ordered the desecrated monuments replaced.

Josef Brendel, former Gestapo official in this city who has been sought since the end of the war on charges of participating in the deportation of Jews from Bavaria to the Nazi death camps in Poland, has been arrested here by German police authorities.
