Vandals in central Pennsylvania defaced a Barack Obama campaign poster with a swastika. The poster was on the lawn of supporters of the Democratic presidential hopeful in the town of Indiana. The homeowner, Kamal Youssef, is an Egyptian-born Muslim; his wife, Maria, is from the former Czechoslovakia and is of mixed Jewish-Christian heritage.
Police said the vandalism, found Saturday, was an isolated incident. Josh Shapiro, a member of the Pennsylvania Legislature and a lead member of Obama’s campaign in the state’s April 22 primary, said he was “was outraged and disappointed” by the vandalism.
