Vandals, believed to be Fascists, today smeared soot over the fountain erected to the memory of the late Walter Rathenau in People’s Park, in the Rehberg section of the city. The bas-relief of the murdered German diplomat and industrialist was also covered with anti-Semitic and Hitlerite emblems while a part of the bas-relief itself was broken off.
