Vandals overturned 60 gravestones in the Jewish cemetery in Karlsruhe and painted anti-Semitic slogans and swastikas on the cemetery wall on April 30. The damage is estimated at over 50,000 Marks. Werner Nachmann, chairman of the West German Jewish community who lives in Karlsruhe, has urged all political parties to consider measures to prevent this type of vandalism.
