Denver police pressed a hunt today for the vandals who smashed five windows in the second hit-and-run attack on Beth Joseph Synagogue in recent weeks and who taped a stenciled swastika to the front door of the Jewish Community Center B’nai B’rith building.
The Beth Joseph desecration was preceded by an anonymous telephone tip to the Denver Post which immediately notified the police, who called Rabbi Daniel Goldberger. Anti-Defamation League officials indicated tentative agreement with Rabbi Goldberger’s opinion that young vandals rather than anti-Semites were responsible for the attacks on the synagogue but admitted this did not explain the swastika incident.
