Creation of a subcommission for relationships with Jews, as part of the Vatican’s expected establishment of a Secretariat for Christian Union, was predicted today in the newspaper Stampa Sera, of Turin, by the paper’s Vatican City correspondent.
According to the Journalist, the establishment of the Secretariat for Christian Union is expected as a result of the recent meeting between the Pope and the Archbishop of Canterbury. Within the new Secretariat, predicts the correspondent, there will be the special section for Vatican dealings with Jews.
The writer points out that the subcommission on Jewish relations will be limited purely to religious matters and, thus, is not expected to offend the Arab world “where Judaism has succeeded in achieving the consistency of a robust territorial State.”
