Alberto Gori, new Vatican representative in Palestine, today paid his first official visit to Israel since his recent elevation in status.
Msgr. Gori, who was received at the Mandelbaum Gate of the Old City by representatives of the Ministry of Religion and Jerusalem’s administration and a police guard of honor, will receive official callers in Jaffa. He will repay these courtesies with a visit to Tel Aviv, thus avoiding the necessity for transacting official business in Jerusalem, which the Vatican maintains is international territory.
