Dore Schary, national chairman of the B’nai B’rith’s Anti-Defamation League, expressed “painful surprise and dismay” here last night over reports that efforts may be made to dilute the Catholic Church’s proposed declaration, exonerating the Jewish people of the charge of deicide.
Speaking before the ADL’s national executive committee, which held a two-day meeting here, Mr. Schary expressed the hope that the Ecumenical Council’s draft Declaration on Relations with Non-Christians, which includes the exoneration of the Jewish people, will be adopted by the next session of the Ecumenical Council.
