The Venezuelan Government and the Intergovernmental Committee on Refugees have come to an agreement under which Venezuela will admit 5,000 refugee families or 15,000 individual refugees this year, it was announced today by the United Nations.
The Intergovernmental Committee will provide the necessary transport, and the immigrants will be selected by the representatives of the Venezuelan Government, which also will be responsible for their reception and placement. It is expected that the first contingent of immigrants will be ready to depart for Venezuela about the first of May.
