Greek Jews were up in arms today against a scurrilous attack on them made in the Greek Senate in Athens by the Venizelist leader Jassonides.
A Jewish delegation comprised of members of the Venizelist party called on Stylianos Gonatas, president of the Senate and former governor of Salonica and protested against the Jassonides speech. The Salonica Jewish community also protested officially.
Answering the anti-Semitic speech in the Senate, Senator Sciaky labelled as a falsehood the charge that Sanocia Jews asked the Austrian naval forces to intervene against the Greeks. He declared that the delegation, which in 1912 visited the Austrian consul to ask for intervention, included a majority of Greeks and was headed by the Greek Metropolitan, the highest church officer in Salonica, and that the aid of
