Very few Polish Jews who migrated to Israel have returned to Poland, the New York Times reported today from Warsaw. The dispatch said Israel officials in Poland estimated that only seven families and a few individuals have made the trip back.
The Times reported that last year 33,000 Polish Jews, accompanied by 2,000 Christians married to Jews, went to Israel from Poland. Another 7,000 of Poland’s 30,000 Jews are expected to emigrate to Israel in 1958. Another 10,000 to 12,000 Jews are expected to be repatriated from the Soviet Union in Poland in the same period, the newspaper said.
