The Federal Bureau of Investigation was called upon today to redouble its efforts in investigating subversive activities, by Edgar H. Burman, National Commander of the Jewish War Veterans of the United States as he opened the 45th annual convention of the organization at the Copley Plaza hotel here.
“When we are spending billions for national defense it is silly to allow these groups to exist,” he declared. “There can be no Nazi blitzkrieg in this country if we keep morally prepared and make this country unsafe for totalitarian aggression, whether it be against the body or against the spirit.”
Some 10,000 members of the organization have converged on this city to take part in the convention, which will end on Sunday. This afternoon a wreath was placed at the Bunker Hill monument in memory of Judah Touro, a hero of the battle of New Orleans, whose $10,000 gift made possible the completion of the monument.
