Moved by proposed measures for the expulsion of Jews from Austria’s social and commercial life, the Union of Jewish War Veterans today lodged an official protest with the Government, demanding justice for Jews and cessation of illegal anti-Semitic activities.

The protest points out the war-time services rendered by the Austrian Jews and describes the anti-Jewish proposals as unconstitutional.

Chief among the measures causing concern in Jewish circles is an ordinance offered by State Councillor Leopold Kunschak which would introduce the numerus clausus in the civil service, educational and legal fields, and establish separate electoral colleges for Jews. The ordinance would recognize Jews as a national minority in Austria.
