Vice President Dick Cheney met with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in Jerusalem. Before meeting Monday with Sharon, Cheney called upon Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat “to renounce once and for all the use of violence as a political weapon.” Cheney also said he would ask Sharon about alleviating “the devastating economic hardship being experienced by innocent Palestinian men, women and children.”
