An order prohibiting Polish Jews in France to participate in the economic life of the country has been issued by the Laval Government, according to a report reaching here today from Vichy.
The order provides for the deportation to Poland of all Jewish artisans and laborers of Polish citizenship who are found to be working unless they are holders of a special labor permit. No Polish Jew, under this order, is permitted to continue any kind of business in France.
Polish circles here today estimated that there are about 100,000 Polish Jews in the occupied and unoccupied parts of France, including many who are naturalized French citizens. The possibility that many of them will be ordered back to Poland as a result of the decree depriving them of the right to earn a livelihood was predicted in the same circles.
