Victor Leon, famous Austrian Jewish actor and librettist, who wrote books for Richard Strauss, Franz Lehar and other composers, has died in poverty at the age of 82, his relatives here have been advised. Leon’s property was confiscated soon after the German entry into Austria in March, 1938, on the ground that he was Jewish. He was born Victor Leon Hirschfeld, son of Dr. Heinrich Hirschfeld, rabbi and philosopher.
