The sensational victory of the Hitlerites in Germany has revitalized the Hakenkreuzler, the Austrian anti-Semitic organization, and it has begun great propaganda mass meetings in the industrial towns and in Vienna. While it is generally believed that the Hakenkreuzler has small chances of duplicating the feat of the Hitlerites because the Heimwehr, Austria’s private nationalist army is dominant in Austria, a more active period in the history of the Hakenkreuzler is believed to be beginning.
The Hakenkreuzler is now seeking to have the Heimwehr adopt the Hitlerites’ program and the Hakenkreuzler leaders are hopeful of the assistance of the new Heimwehr leader, Prince Ernest von Starhemberg, who has close connections with Hitler.
