In the first free election in eight years, the Jews of Vienna yesterday voted overwhelmingly to retain the present administration of the Jewish community.
Of the 36 seats in the Jewish community council being contested, 33 were won by the candidates running on the joint list supported by most of the groups within the community. About 65 percent of the 4,090 persons eligible to vote participated in the elections.
The new council will meet within the next few days to choose a president of the council. It is almost certain that the incumbent, David Brill, will be re-elected.
