Vienna municipal officials yesterday took possession of a synagogue in the First District here despite the fact that the synagogue was scheduled to be used by Jewish worshippers during the entire holiday of Succoth.
Officials of the Jewish community of Vienna said that the action had alarmed the city’s Jewish population. Part of the furniture had been put outside the building before the synagogue officers convinced the municipal authorities that they were entitled to two more days because a court eviction order had set the eviction deadline for Friday.
