A free for all fight among newspapermen because of a remark insulting to Arthur Schnitzler developed yesterday at the press conference arranged by the “Austrian ‘Broadcasting Company.
When one of the speakers mentioned the name of Arthur Schnitzler as representative of Austrian culture, a newspaperman representing a Hakenkruezler, paper protested, declaring that Scnitzler was merely a Jewish pornographic writer. All the other newspapermen jumped to their feet and attacked the Hakenkruezler journalist who was severely beaten.
The conference had been called to discuss the complaint of Schnitzler that Austrian radio stations had broadcast excerpts of his works without permission.
