The HIAS office which was recently opened here may become a regional center for all of Southeastern Europe, it was stated here today by Ilya Dijour, executive secretary of the organization.
He pointed out that contact has been established with the organization’s offices in Budapest and Bucharest, and that this branch has already managed to locate many surviving Austrian Jews for their relatives in Shanghai and other points in the For East. The office has also distributed many documents needed by local Jews seeking to emigrate.
