SPORADIC ARAB VIOLENCE CONTINUED TODAY TO CAUSE CONCERN AMONG JEWS AND GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS IN PALESTINE.

YEHUDA BRONSTEIN, 29, CLERK EMPLOYED BY THE PALESTINE MERCANTILE BANK, WAS WOUNDED BY AN ARAB WHO ACCOSTED HIM IN THE STREET, ASKED WHERE HE WAS GOING. THEN FIRED TWO SHOTS WHICH STRUCK BRONSTEIN’S LEG AND FOOT.

AN ARMED ARAB BAND ATTACKED THE LYDDA RAILWAY STATION BUT WAS REPULSED BY POLICE. THE TELEPHONE WIRES LINKING PALESTINE AND EGYPT AGAIN WERE CUT.

THE FAMILIES OF THREE VANISHED ARAB NOTABLES OF MIGDAL-GAD, WANTED BY THE POLICE IN CONNECTION WITH THE BOMBINGS AND DAMAGES TO THE RAILWAY LINE AT GAZA, WERE INFORMED THEIR HOUSE WOULD BE DEMOLISHED IF THEY FAILED TO GIVE THEMSELVES UP TO THE POLICE.

THE HEBREW DAILY, HAARETZ, REPORTED TODAY THAT WILLIAM G.A. ORMSBY-GORE, BRITISH COLONIAL SECRETARY, HAD INSTRUCTED ACTING HIGH COMMISSIONER WILLIAM D. BATTERSHILL TO MEET THE FOUR REMAINING MEMBERS OF THE MOSLEM SUPREME COUNCIL TO DISCUSS THEIR MEMORANDUM TO THE GOVERNMENT IN WHICH THEY ASKED THE RETURN OF EXILED ARAB LEADERS.

HAARETZ ALSO REPORTED, FROM BAGHDAD, THAT A CONFERENCE OF ARAB LEADERS, INCLUDING PALESTINIANS, HAD DECIDED TO SUMMON A NEW PAN-ARAB CONGRESS AT BAGHDAD.
