Heavy sentences were passed to-day on the leaders of the attacks made during the Jewish bakers’ dispute in Warsaw last year on a number of Jewish bakeries and their proprietors, when the trial which has been dragging for some time was concluded.
One of the accused, Rotbit, has been sentenced to six years’ imprisonment, Blumkin, the Secretary of the Jewish Bakers’ Union, has been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, six others have been sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment, two to one year’s imprisonment and five have been acquitted.
Considerable damage was done during the attacks made on the Jewish bakeries at the time, and over 100 summonses were issued against Jewish bakery workers. At the trial of the first batch of prisoners, which took place last October, one was sent to prison for five years, one for 2½ years, seven for 1½ years, two for one year, and one for six months.
